The Giver

So I was assigned to read the novel "The Giver" by Lois Lowery.  I have to be honest, when I first started to read the story I couldn't keep my eyes open.  Then just a few days ago I came home around seven in the evening and fell a sleep on my couch. I woke up around ten p.m. I knew that I wasn't going to get any sleep that night because of my late night nap, so I decided to read "The Giver" again. I was hooked! I didn't end up going to sleep till about one in the morning.  I finished the book the next day.  I really enjoyed this book, I found the build up to Jonas's twelve ceremony very interesting. To find out that he had the most honorable job out all his friends was pretty cool as well. But even though Jonas had the most honorable job as Receiver of Memories, it would change him and I think that it changes him for the better.

  1. What do you think of the ending? Hope or no hope? Just curious...

  2. Hope! To take emotions and real feelings away is to make a dull society! When Jonas has his first session with the giver, it reminded me of the Matrix when Neo has the choice of the blue pill or the red pill. The choice that Jonas makes changes him forever and ultimately the society that he lived in. thought it was good.
